Hybrid Analog + Digital Mixing

At Cocoon, we run every mix through a true hybrid setup.
We use analog gear for warmth and depth, and digital tools for precision and control. This lets us shape tone intentionally while keeping the music dynamic and open. We don’t over-process — we enhance what’s already there so the record feels alive and translates wherever it’s played.

Optional Editing & Enhancement Services
If needed, additional editing services such as vocal tuning, timing alignment, or drum tightening can be incorporated prior to or during the mixing process. These adjustments are approached transparently and musically — enhancing performances without stripping away feel or character.
FAQ
How much do professional mixing services cost?
Rates start as low as $300 per song, but may vary depending on the complexity of the track. When recording at The Cocoon, discounted package rates apply.
How does your remote mixing service work?
Remote mixing at Cocoon begins with understanding the vision of your record. After you send your files and rough mix, we shape the track through our hybrid analog workflow, focusing on depth, tone, and emotional impact. A mix is delivered digitally for feedback, and we refine it together until it feels cohesive and alive.
Can I attend the mixing session in person?
Absolutely! We’ll prep the files beforehand, get a grasp on the mix, and then invite you in for the final revision.
What files do I need to send for mixing?
Please send consolidated WAV or AIFF files (24-bit preferred) of every track exported from the same start point so everything aligns properly. Remove any master bus limiters or compression and leave at least 3–6 dB of headroom. Clearly label each track (Kick, Snare, Lead Vocal, etc.), and include a rough mix bounce for reference. If you’ve used creative effects that define the sound, feel free to print them — or send both dry and processed versions. Tempo, key, arrangement and any notes about the direction of the mix are always helpful.
How long does mixing take?
Most songs are mixed within 3–7 days, depending on the complexity of the arrangement and the level of refinement required. Mixing is both technical and artistic — an interpretive stage where balance is established, tone is shaped, and depth is created so the record translates with clarity and impact across listening environments. The first pass focuses on building a strong foundation, and revisions are then used to refine subtle details until the song feels cohesive, dimensional, and emotionally complete.
